I had a 1950 on SAT and a 3.75 GPA. I did apply early because I heard that there had been a surge of applicants wanting to go to UConn, so I wanted to increase my odds.

Well, I'm from out of state, and I didn't hear of this statistic untill my first week at UConn and that is that 1 in 10 out-of-staters get accepted, and out of that 1 in 10, about 30% actually go to UConn. UConn is 80% in-state students, so if you are from out of state and don't know anyone there, good luck because everyone else still hangs out with their friends from high school.

I was top 10 percent of my class, 1300 on SATs, 4.0 GPA. I was also a minority (pacific islander/Asian). Don't forget to mention if you're a minority, this college is obsessed with political correctness.

People in H.S should definitely focus on their SAT and GPA, as with most colleges they are applying to.
Nowadays UCONN is relatively hard to get into and getting more competitive. At least a 3.4 gpa and 1800 SAT to almost guarantee admission.
Male
It wasn't that hard: I took theDec 01 2006Mechanical Engineering
It wasn't that hard: I took the SATs and did my best in high school. However, there is racial preferencing in the admissions process. If you are a minority, I suggest you indicate that on the application.
